Born in Tungipara, Gopalganj district on September 28, 1947 Sheik Hasina Wazed is the current prime minister of Bangladesh. She grew up within a political family with Sheikh Mujibur Rahman being a renowned politician in Bangladesh.
This forced her into an early public life as a result of his parent’s political involvement. Nonetheless, tragedy struck her when her father and other members of her family were assassinated in 1975.
After several years spent living abroad she returned to Bangladesh where she led Awami League –the political party established by her father during the early 1980s.
